CEH exam voucher: what you buy and how long it lasts

CEH voucher validity

1year

A CEH voucher is valid for one year from release and cannot be transferred. You can extend it once: $49 buys three months, $99 buys a year.

Pick the delivery mode before you pay

The voucher is tied to how you sit the exam. The remote-proctored voucher, which EC-Council's store labels RPS, puts you in front of an online proctor at your own desk. The Pearson VUE voucher books you into a test center. EC-Council's certification FAQ adds one line on this: "You may need to upgrade your voucher for an $100 fee for our remote proctoring services." Check which delivery mode a voucher is for before you pay.

After that choice, one date matters: the day the voucher expires. Put it in your calendar the day you buy. The CEH exam registration steps show where the voucher fits between eligibility and booking.

A voucher's year

  1. Day 0

    Voucher released

    The one-year clock starts when the voucher is released to you. Booking a date does not pause it.

  2. Before expiry

    Extend only if you must

    One extension per voucher: $49 for three months or $99 for a year. The handbook allows it on a voucher that is still valid.

  3. Month 12

    Expiry

    EC-Council's FAQ says an expired voucher can still get the one-year extension for $99; the handbook says only a valid one can. Plan around the stricter reading.

  4. Exam day

    A failed attempt is not refunded. The next one runs on a CEH retake voucher.

Fine print on the voucher

Can someone else use my voucher?

No. EC-Council's CEH certification page lists vouchers as non-transferable (Oct 11, 2026).

What is not covered by the voucher?

The $100 eligibility application on the experience route, retakes, and the $80 yearly continuing-education fee after you pass (EC-Council, Oct 11, 2026). The CEH exam cost breakdown sources each one.

Is a voucher that comes with training any different?

EC-Council describes its training kits as including an exam voucher valid for one year, and some kits add one retake voucher; proctoring fees are not included (EC-Council CEH page, Oct 11, 2026).
